Howdy might be the normal way to greet someone where the plugin developer lives but it certainly isn't normal across the rest of our very big planet!

I have changed the code inside jetpack/modules/subscriptions.php from "Howdy" to "Hi" but still the introduction email says Howdy!!!

I searched and found many post comments etc asking how this "Howdy" word could be change but there was no developer feedback whatsoever as far as I could see.

It might as well say "Heyup", "Hiya", "Alright Mate", "Howrya" "G'Day" ... I hear you say "What the hell does that mean?" ... "Precisely" I say in reply.

It looks like such a great plugin and I would have given this five stars if it wasn't for this silly wording.

    Thanks for the feedback.

You can actually customize the contents of the Subscription confirmation emails by going to Settings > Reading in your dashboard.

    Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for getting back, its much appreciated! I was slightly annoyed yesterday so apologies for my grumpy post above.

I'm afraid I checked there too and although the word "Hi" shows up in Settings > Reading, the confirmation email still shows the word "Howdy" which I don't understand.

Not to worry, I suppose Howdy will have to do for now.

Thanks anyway and great work BTW!
    Warren

Once you save your changes and remove "Howdy" from the Reading settings, it shouldn't appear in the confirmation emails anymore.

Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look, and see what's causing the issue on your site?

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

Thanks! I just subscribed to her site, and "Howdy" indeed appears in the confirmation email:

Would you mind posting a screenshot of the Reading Settings page?

Thank you! You may have found a bug!

I tried to reproduce on a test site, and the values seem to change properly when I change the settings in Settings > Reading:
    http://i.wpne.ws/MxiQ

Here is a screenshot of the confirmation email:

Could you try to go to the Jetpack menu, and disconnect / reconnect to WordPress.com? If you head over to the Reading settings and save your changes once again, does "Howdy" disappear from the confirmation emails? You might also want to reinstall Jetpack, to make sure that we both use the same version of the plugin (original 2.1.2).

Since this value is saved in your database, you might also want to temporarily disable your caching plugins, to make sure that the values are saved properly.

    Success!

Thank you Jeremy that worked perfectly and sorry for the delayed reply!

    Problem solved by :
    1) Disconnecting Jetpack
    2) Go to Settings/Reading and click "Save Changes" (not sure if this step is absolutely necessary but its what I did anyway)
    3) Reconnect to Jetpack
    4) Go to Settings/Reading check it says "Hi" and not "Howdy" in both Follower Settings fields and click "Save Changes"

    All Fixed!

Thanks very much for your help Jeremy, its much appreciated!

Also, rabbit, do you mind changing your rating for JetPack?
I'm not one of the developers but I'm a huge fan!

    Done that now celloblue.
As I've only used a small part of the plugin so far I don't think I'm qualified to give 5 stars just yet! So I reckon 4 stars counts for the help by Jeremy Herve and the way 'Subscribe' works so well.
    Names Warren btw :-)
