I've spent a few hours over a couple of days trying to find a solution to what I'm sure is a simple problem. So simple that no one explains how to do it. I'm trying to install the cart66 lite plugin. Installation says "Download & extract zip file". No problem there. Next it says "Upload the 'cart66' folder (you've just extracted) to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory". How do I do this? I've looked at several different plugins & none of them explain how to do this. It's obviously so simple no one bother's explaining it & yet I'm foxed.
Then the installation says "Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress" which apparently should be under "Appearance". But there is no "Plugins" option under "Appearance". Does this only appear after uploading a plugin? I did wonder if plugins are now widgets but I'm sure everyone would update their installation instructions if this is the case.
Sorry to trouble you all with such simple questions. I promise I have hunted for a solution. Honest.

Posted 8 months ago #In the menu sidebar on the left you should see "plugins". There you can add plugins, so you don't have to go through the route you describe.
The 'old way' was to download a plugin, unzip it on your ocmputer, upload it to /wp-content/plugins using FTP and then activate it in the WP dashboard.

Posted 8 months ago #I'm absolutely sure there's no "plugins" in my menu sidebar. I've looked under every title like Appearance, Tools, Settings. I thought it might be something to do with the Widgets heading but there seems to be no way to add plugins there.
Could you be a bit more precise as to where to find "Plugins" please.

Posted 8 months ago #Ok, I found a page about plugins that says plugins should be under Appearance in the Admin panel. I don't think I can upload a pic in the forum here so I'll upload it using Cloud.App. The pic on the left is the one I've just found and show's where "plugins" should be, the one on the right is what my sidebar looks like and shows that "Appearances" has no plugins option:
Is it possible to actually contact WordPress for support? I can only seem to find links to the forums here for support which doesn't seem to be getting me anywhere.
