I would like to display a widget with posts with a particular category using the Mini Loops plugin.
I know there are fields for Category and Tag, however, when I enter one of my categories, "Tutorial" (without the quotes") in the field, it returns ALL posts.
I'm sure this is a very basic question - just can't figure it out. Thanks for any info.
You'll need to use the category ID instead of the name.
You can get the ID by examining the URL for editing a category.
On the Categories page of the admin, mouse over 'Edit' and look for tag_ID=#in the URL, that number will be the ID you need. Screenshot: http://cl.ly/GelT
To exclude a category, just list that ID as a negative number.

Hi - thanks for your reply. I used the plugin Category Posts Widget instead and got it to do what I wanted. It uses a drop-down menu to select a category. I think mini loops must be very powerful in other areas. I was just interested in the simple postings by category so that plugin did the trick. Thanks.
I know using IDs isn't optimal, but it's the simplest way to accept multiple IDs
Glad you found a solution though! The best plugin is always the one that works for you :)
