    Hi.

I think my blog is running wordpress 2.3.

As far as I remember, I haven’t made any edits for the wordpress script apart from installing themes and plugins.

How do I update to 2.5? Do I just overwrite the current files and my themes and plugins will still be okay?

    Thanks.

  • That’s pretty much it. That is, if you didn’t edit the default or classic theme. And be sure to run “install” after uploading the files.

    Documentation.

Thanks. I have edited my current default theme quite a bit (freshy 1.0) as you can see here:

That theme will still be there when I upload the new files correct? Nothing will get overwrited?

    Thanks again.

Oh, if you didn’t edit the default theme (the WP theme called “Default” that comes with the WP download), nothing will happen, since there is no /wp-content/themes/fresly_10 (or whatever) folder in the WP package that will overwrite your existing theme folder.

Btw. when upgrading it can also be smart to delete everthing first except the wp-content folder and the wp_config file in the root. Just read the documentation I pointed to earlier.

Thanks a lot! Everything seems to be okay 😀
