How to upgrade from 1.9 to 2?

    I am using Nextgen Gallery 1.9.7 and want to upgrade to 2. How do I do this? There is no option/link within WordPress to upgrade the plugin and having downloaded and unziped the plugin I see that the directory structure, etc, has changed since 1.9 so it won’t overwrite all the old plugin files.

    I have searched the documentation but it is out of date and even the 2.0 documentation is actually for 1.9 and I can’t find anywhere that detailed how to go from 1.9 to 2. I must be missing something because clearly lots of people have performed this upgrade but I just can’t see what to do.

    Should I just upload the contents of the Zip file to the nextgen-gallery directory? And should I clear down the existing contents first?

    probably nextcellent is the solution – also for my problem – probably its not possible to upgrade ?

    If you want to get the new version working without any possible problems, I would say:

    Delete the old plugin and all gallerys/images and so on. After this you can install the new version without compatibility problems from the old ones.

    For me I decide to rollback to v. 1.9.13 and install the Block Plugin Update-Tool!

    I had to many issues with the new version.

    @dorsetjon – I cannot think of a reason why you would not see an update available for the old NextGEN Legacy version but even if the file/folder structure is different you can still upload the unzipped package to your WordPress installation overwriting all files and folders in the /nextgen-gallery/ folder.

    With the following release you should be able to use the built-in WordPress update process.

    @ch3ck3rm0n – Have you tried the most recent version of NextGEN Gallery? Perhaps if you are still having issues you would be interested in submitting a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) with your (test) site’s details?
