   Broke the site on my local machine-tried editing wp-config file as suggested in Codex. Sites still broken.

   Would like to get rid of(uninstall) WP/Bitnami/MAMP (might be a conflict)
   on my MAC

   You can uninstall WP by removing all WordPress files & folders and deleting the relevant database.

   Bitnami and other *AMP servers usually install phpmyadmin. Try visiting the http://localhost/phpmyadmin, if it is present you can 'drop' the database. However, a complete uninstall of Bitnami should delete the MySQL data files just as well (and blast everything else too).
