How to tweak plugin to show on posts only, not pages too? (5 posts)

Hi, the Facebook sharecount plugin is pretty new and I was emailing back and forth with the developer about it. I want the little sharecount icon to show on posts only, not pages. A similar plugin (Tweetmeme) allows you to choose in the settings whether you want the icon displayed on posts or pages or both. However, he said that is not currently supported in his plugin, but because plugins "are totally editable" it could be done.

Does anyone know how to specifically edit this (or any) plugin to set it to display only on posts?

    Thanks!

Will the plugin author be adding this feature in the (near) future?

Although it seems it would be a relative straight forward modification, without seeing the code it can be hard to say if it is easy or tedious. Do you have a link to the specific plugin on the WordPress repository?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if they will be adding it, he didn't say.

Here is the plugin, I think it is only available on their site, not on the WordPress site: http://www.fbshare.me/

... know how to specifically edit this plugin to set it to display only on posts.

I have looked at the code and the edits are very minimal to hard-code what you are looking for. If you want it as an "on/off" type option it would require additional work.

The "hard-code" edit is a "Five-Minute-Fix". Please feel free to contact me if you are comfortable editing the code yourself or would like an edited version of the file ... or to discuss other options.
