I am currently doing a website for my thesis using wordpress on a mac. The school though requires to view the website and edit the website on a windows machine. Does anyone by any chance know how to transfer the files from a mac to a pc and if the files will remain compatible?

I stored my website contents in a folder on my desktop on my mac, do i just have to transfer that folder ( which contains the wp-content, wp-admin, and php files ) to my pc or do i need to convert them?

at my opinion, there are no difference, the WP work with PHP Apatch, so it can work in any OS, all you need is to install your personal server who will work in windows OS like Xampp (http://www.apachefriends.org/fr/xampp.html), so if you install your server, thane go to ur phpmyadmin and export your Sql db - to import it via Phpmyadmin in Windows OS,
if you see that the URL in Mac (http://localhost/folderx/foldery...) is not the some in the windows, just open you sql with a notpad like Notpad++, and search/replace the old url with the new one, in this way all the images/script... you use in your theme and wp-content will work.
hop you understand my english :p

  3. Are you talking about localhost on Windows? Or a Windows web server? See Moving WordPress « WordPress Codex. You'll need to export the database and put it on a disk or flash drive, and move your theme files over. You will need phpmysdmin to change the URLs in the database on the windows box. See see How to Move WordPress Blog to New Domain and
Find and Replace Text in WordPress MySQL Database When Changing Domains. Don't move the WordPress files; download them on the windows box. If you have edited the theme text files under OS X, you may have saved the files with Mac line endings and charcter encoding and might have trouble. But follow the docs first.
