First, I cannot upgrade. The project requires that I use this version. So let's move on. I cannot place tracking code from Google Analytics in the footer.php of the WordPress site I'm working on, yet, now, after-the fact, I'm being required to get Web stats for this site.
Can someone please help me to accomplish this? I can't imagine that there isn't a quick and easy way to do it. I just don't use WordPress except for this one project....
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. WCW

My apologies....I thought it would publish the version I'm using. I'm on 2.7.1 of WordPress. That said. I still need to find out how to get Web stats. Thanks, WCW
What is the reason why you can't implement GA? If it's because it executes javascript then you will find yourself cutoff from several stats collection plugins/apps. If you are happy running a PHP collector then there are several such apps around eg: Statspress.
Recently I took Piwik for a test run and was quite impressed - it does execute javascript though but allows you to store data locally (as opposed to GA and WP Stats which store data remotely). Piwik currently has a strong user base and is evolving at a rate of knots.

Thanks R for your reponse. I have been unsuccessful putting GA tagging code into WordPress. It just strips out the code when I save the template.
I don't know if it's the Javascript.
And what I really need to do is get something to go back into the logs back to August of 09 and measure stats after-the-fact...up to November 09.
Now I'm being asked to collect stats on this project, where I was not before.
And I have no idea if I'd be happy running a PHP collector. Don't know much about it. That's why I'm asking for help.
Thanks, WCW
