How to tell if image not used in post?

    I am hacking a slideshow plugin. The plugin’s original behavior has it displaying in a slideshow all image attachments to a post. What I need is some way for the plugin to tell if an attachment is actually used in the post or not, so that it’ll only display the attachment images that have been uploaded, but not used in the post.

    Is there any way to do this?
