How does I make a new theme? I've tried to copy the files from the kubrick-theme and put it into a new folder under the \wp-content\themes\ but how does I make it visible on the themeeditor?

You have to go into the style.css file and change the theme name from "WordPress Default" to something else at the top. Right now, WP thinks that both the default theme, and the new folder you made are the same theme because the theme name is the same.
