Hi
I have got wordpress to work on my system and after playing with it for a while I am looking for some suggestions as to how should I setup a website to sell software that should have the following:
1. Few Pages about product details.
2. Setup a Forum. Which is the best forum module for WordPress?
3. What is the best way to setup payments?
Regards
Sandeep
I never heard of wordpress successfully used as a commercial CMS, honestly. Maybe you should take instead a look at joomla (cute, pretty, shiny, but not so many contributors/helpers and recent) or to oscommerce (old but udpated, very ugly by default but can be configured to be pretty, very basical by default but has thousands of plugins possible to apply if you know the basics of editing files, and with a very big community bebind). I'd say go for joomla if you are in a hurry or you don't like to edit php code, or oscommerce if you want to be come very big and you're ready to spend much time on it in the beginning.
But wordpress as a sales machine ? Honestly I don't believe in it...
WP-ecommerce is an awesome plugin. You can set up a full featured store, and it supports downloadable goods too. You can accept payments via paypal or various payment gateways. Its super slick, front and back end. I cant say enough good about it. After using oscommerce for years, wp-econmerce is like a breath of fresh air.
Oh well, glad for Sandeep I was wrong, then ;)

You can use WP-osCommerce (osCommerce for WordPress), a modified version of osCommerce, one of the most popular ecommerce solutions. The main difference between WP.osC and osCommerce, is that WP.osC uses the same Theme system as WordPress.
WP.osC (WP-osCommerce) allows you to integrate osCommerce into an existing WordPress website.
