[resolved] How to set upload limits and fiddle with [gallery] coding (6 posts)

Two questions: how do I set the upload limit on files, and is there a code for the new [gallery] function that allows me to link directly to the files as opposed to the WP-generated pages?

For the first question, I currently get this error if I try to upload any of my home videos:

"This file is too big. Your php.ini upload_max_filesize is 2M."

I've poked around the various settings and I can't find an option to increase the upload limit. I also can't find the php.ini file to edit it myself to allow for bigger files.

As for the second question, is there a shortcut way of putting in the [gallery] code so that the links point to the files themselves as opposed to the image pages? The layout I'm currently using isn't very forgiving for these picture-pages, and being an OCD maniac I like everything to look the way it's supposed to. I didn't find anything in the [gallery] docs that allow for this, and I'm also too scared to edit media.php myself to change it to be the way I want it.

Any help on the matter would be GREATLY appreciated!

Okay, never mind about the second question. I've created a makeshift image.php which should suffice for now.

But as for image upload limits, where on earth can I fix that?

Never mind, I fixed it. To everyone else who was having trouble with upload sizes, check this out:

COuld you share what was the "image.php" solution? I'm also interested in this question, even though i feel that it should be an option to the gallery shortcode...

    Thanks

I wrote a blog entry about it. It's probably not the best, especially since I know very little about coding and design, but so far it's been a good temporary fix:
