how to set up wp without comments

    I am a newbee to WP and have been searching and trying to find out how I can disable the possibility to comment on my weblog. I do not want people to comment, but I only can find a plugin (autoshutoff) and that doesn’t work, when I activated it, I got the message there are failures in several lines. What do I have to do?? Should it not just be an option to shutoff the possibility to comment??

    Go into your theme folder and modify the php files that display a single post and single page.

    In my theme , they’re called single.php and page.php.

    Within these files, you’ll see they’re calling the comments_template() function. Comment these lines out or delete them altogether.

    Thanks a lot! In one of the two there is nothing like a comment-template() fuction, but deleting it in the other did the job!
