how to seperate static pages and blog?

    I am setting up a new WP installation and want to have all of my static pages including the front page in the root directory (www.site.com/) and have my blog in a subdirectory (www.site.com/blog/). I can’t seem to get this to work. Is there a good plugin or some other way to get it work? I have installed WP in my root directory and then changed the blog address to /blog/ in the WP admin panel, and moved index.php to that directory….can anyone help?

    It might have made more sense to simply install the whole thing into a subdirectory called blog. That would work just fine, with much less hassle.
