I made a custom widget using the default text widget but when I drag it off the sidebar, the widget disappears. Is there a way to preserve widgets even when they are not in use?

Hi there! :)
I believe that you can drag the widget into the 'Inactive Widgets' column that is below the 'Available Widgets' column and it -should- save the widget's settings which should include the content in the widgets?
