I am setting up a site for our monastery. I have the main blog software installed and wanted to use eshop plugin for a bookshop. the plugin took over the whole blog with its own pages etc.
I got intimidated when i read the multisite information and thought it might be easier to simply do a second install of wordpress in a second directory and use it for the bookshop using eshop and just put a link from one to the other.
Will this work?
it doesn't take over the whole bog at all. It adds several(5) necessary pages for eShop to function, and adds a product entry section to the edit post/page screens.
eShop works fine in multisite so far as I am aware.
In theory what you are doing is unnecessary, and will mean you have to maintain 2 instances of WordPress rather than one, but there is no reason why it wouldn't work that way.
