How to restrict specific users from posting on specific pages by assigned role? (7 posts)

I need to control which roles are allowed to make postings or contributions to specific pages by page. I looked for a way to do this in the original WordPress and it apparently doesn't provide that capability. I also searched for a plug-in to do it and all that I saw only apply restrictions by role to specific pages for access...not for posting. Surely there is a way to do this?? Can someone tell me how or point me to a plug-in that will?

    Check out this:

Seems a bit overkill, since it's very complex, but it's the only plugin I know that does what you're looking for.

I downloaded and installed role-scoper and as far as I could read in its instructions and options, it only let you specify for each page the restrictions by user on access...not restrictions on posting. Am I missing something in role-scoper's instructions? If so, can you point me to where in it I can specify for each page who has permission to post on that page?

As far as I can remember, there are two steps.
First, you assign the author role (or a custom one) to people you want to be able to post on some pages.
Then, from the single pages, you restrict their privilege for that specific page only.

The first part of assigning the author role that I want to be able to post is easy.
The 2nd part of restricting their privoege for a specific page I cannot figure out how to do. I went to Edit on individual pages looking for how to restrict privleges for that page and I don't see anything in the Dashboard/Pages that lets you do that.
Can you be more specific on how to do the 2nd part??

I also downloaded and installed a plug-in that from its description will do what I want to do...it is called User Permissions. It installed OK and shows a MetaData matrix on each page that is suppose to allow you to select the Read and/or Write permissions for each role for the Page being shown, but when you click Update, it is not saved. Hence this plug-in doesn't work.
Do you know of any other one like User Permissions that I can try?

Regarding Role Scoper, you can find detailed instructions here:

Maybe someone else will jump in and let you know if there are other plugins.
