I have tried to remove the /wordpress from my site url in several ways. The most recent crashed the site. it appears http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress. This also does not allow search to find the site. I have recently re-designed the site in xammp. The files are stil in a folder called wordpress and I am afraid when I upload it to my server I will have the same problem. I tried to change the name of the folder to "mydomain"
but that seems to have broken a bunch of links. Anybody have solutions or advice??

You basically want to move wordpress to root, or have it at least run from root
links to all the important codex entries are in my article of course
