How to remove Title from Title page (10 posts)

    I'm brand new to WordPress and website construction in general. For the time being I want to have a static "cover" page for my website. I've successfully uploaded a jpg for the front page. What I want to do is remove the Title option - I've seen some of similar posts and I know I can leave it blank but I want to remove the option to shorten the space between the front page and the top of the viewing screen. The front page still leaves the room for the title even though it is blank. I realize I have to edit the html but I can't seem to find it for the title. I'm not sure how to get into the actual file in mysql. I have a godaddy server. Is there a way to do it on dashboard?
    thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question - WordPress is NOT that easy.
    BTW, I don't want to have a blog, I want to build a regular website with no blogs! And - if I do manage to change this will it effect any other page I may create?
    thanks

    What theme you using and if you post url will help as you may have to make changes in css file not html file as you will not find that anywhere in wordpress.

    As for you wanting to create a website rather then blog you can check my video

    Hi govpatel, thanks for the reply.
    reelstockfootage.com is the website
    and I'm using Twenty Eleven theme.
    I thought that the pages are different than the themes? I will watch your video and what I would really like is a hierarchy diagram of how this all works. WordPress seems to be great but if you're not savvy with the technospeak of html and the like it's hard to understand. Thank you for your help with this.

    If you are using Twenty Eleven theme as this is default theme you will need to create a child theme and make changes in child theme style.css

    You will info how to create child theme here

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

    Do want to reduce the white space above the image and menubar

    The other question is how did you add this page is this a post or a page. You will need create pages and use a name as title and then content then you will not have title space there.

    not sure what you mean by use a name as title

    When you create a page you add name of page in top box and content in main box where as in post you put title in top box.

    Have you created a child theme folder and you can only have style.css file with this

    /*
    Theme Name: Twentyeleven Child
    Description: Child theme for the twentyeleven theme
    Author: Your name here
    Template: twentyeleven
    */

    @import url("../twentyeleven/style.css");

    #main {
        clear: both;
        padding: 0;
    }

    .singular.page .hentry {
        padding: 0;
    }

    .entry-content, .entry-summary {
        padding: 5px;
    }

    You need activate child theme in Appearance>>>>Themes
    This will reduce the white space.
