• Hello friends. My blog link is Gujju Freak.
I installed a new theme which is a paid theme and i bought that theme.
The problem is that now i do want to remove their theme link back links, i have tried in the editor section but still could not find.
How to remove that link which is located at the end of the page.

I suppose remove the link from the main page would remove the link from all the pages isn’t it?

  • Hi gujjufreak,

please check the file footer.php of that theme if you can find the hardcoded links there, if yes, just delete them.

    Michael

    It’s simple:
You have a Genesis theme, all you have to do is installing the “Genesis simple Edits” plugin, after activation, you will find a new link Simple Edits in the Genesis Button in your dashboard, now scroll down and delete the Footer credits or even modify all the footer link as you want.

Editing theme files directly is not a good idea as a theme update will overwrite your edits.

As an alternative to editing theme files, you can create a child theme, however there may be a feature built into the theme to remove the link or replace it with your own text/link.

As it is a commercial theme you need to ask the vendor about this.

@cubecolor: He only wants to get rid of the links, of course it can be also done with a child theme, but deleting these links from footer.php takes only 5 seconds… 😉

But if there is an option included in the theme, it would be of course the best solution.

but deleting these links from footer.php takes only 5 seconds

Sure. Then 3 months later the theme is updated and all of those changes are lost. That would suck. 😉

Creating a child theme takes less that 10 minutes if you know how. Possible 30 minutes if it’s your first time.

Or use a plugin as also suggested above.

@jan: Yep – it would suck if it was a larger customization or several customizations but we are talking here about deleting one line of code.

But I 100% agree that child themes always make sense if you want to customize a theme. In the end they save time, but in my opinion not for this case. 🙂
