   When I add Meta I would like to remove the link to WordPRess.org and a few others, any way how to? or a plug-in that will do the same with custom links?

   I have people create accounts to get e-mail updates on posts via subscribe2 and Register Plus to get more info, so I am getting closer.

   use theme editor to edit side bar, move the code out of there, done.

   Hello sorry for the delay.
   I only see how to edit a theme. I click edit next to the sidebar but it only lets me change the title. I am using 2.7

   The easiest way is to create you own Meta with a text widget.
