    Hello,

This is the second time I struggle with this problem, and don’t know what I am missing…

I created my own theme and was testing some plugins (localhost on Mac, running MAMP).
From time to time I create a backup of my complete folder (containing the root and subfolders), as well as an export of the mySQL database.

I am in a conflict with “adminimize” that breaks my rights for a certain group (author), so I restored my backup:
    1. delete my original rootmap, and reinsert my backupfolder as root. (complete renewal)
    2. delete mySQL database and let the SQL script (my backup file) recreate it.

All seems succesful since I can the layout was updated (took the correct map), and my posts changed as well (database renewal). When I now go to my adminpanel, and login as my user with the conflict, it still remains…

    Am I missing something?

    info:
    Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) PHP/5.3.2 DAV/2
    MySQL-client versie: 5.1.44

    ps: backup was done manually…
pss: quite new to dynamic webpages (mySQL + php)

I started a new database, a new wordpress install and when I create a user (author), I still have the same problem (eg. “pagesmenu” missing in admin panel, due to “adminimize”).

Are there any files that are hidden of some sort, which I need to adapt?

Sounds like an issue with adminimize – not WordPress.

Hello esmi, actually it is, but that’s not my point to be honest.

    I downloaded wordpress 3.1 again.
created a new database, and imported my posts whcij I exported.
Took my theme again and installed the plugins one by one (but not adminimize).

will check if some “import options” are recreating this bug again…

If you are restoring a previous databsse, that means you’re may be copying back in the very adminize problem that you’re trying to avoid

esmi, I’m aware of that, however the previous database was from a time before installing the plugin which caused it to break… Could this by any meaning have anything to do with eg. .htaccess ?

will try again in the morning with a fresh install and no imports…

ok, same problem after clean install of wordpress3.1 and new mySQL database…
What is wrong, am I overseeing something?

    things I just did:
    1) I created a new map, putted default wordpress content in it (just downloaded it).
    2) created a new database
    3) runned the config and got things working
    4) created a few users: author, writer,… just to test the problem…
    5) my author still doesn’t see the standard admin panel (he can’t eg. create pages)

ps: The only thing that is not reconfigured/installed is MAMP… (maybe this is causing it?) All the rest is just a fresh default install without any adjustments…

    Allright,

figured it out. There was nothing wrong in the first place. I was mislead by the standard rights wordpress gives to the usergroups and the way “adminimize” offers changebility… In my experience “adminimize” can only give less rights and not the other way around. Thus I was mislead by the userinterface of that plugin.

In my example: An author can NOT change pages in the first place, an Editor does…
