• I started my blog, http://www.stopdietingforever.com using the theme Atahualpa. It wasn’t right for my site so I switched to Citrus Mix but when people sign in, they still get Atahualpa (Atahualpa has a header with flowers, the Citrus header is oranges). When I log onto the site on my computer where I do all my work, I get Citrus – maybe because the computer has memorized that login? So I went into admin to Appearance > Themes and deleted Atahualpa. Rebooted my computer, signed on and got Citrus. When I tried two other computers they STILL come up with Atahualpa! How can this be when it doesn’t exist? Meanwhile, this has brought my fledgling business to a stop.

  • I see the twentyten default theme when I visit.

All of your links seem to 404, by the way.

    Hi-
Yes, I guess it was twentyten. I deleted that from my themes list. On my computer, Firefox, it’s still Citrus Mix, on Safari it’s just words and blue links (is that 404?). I’m so tech-illiterate I truly have no idea what I’m doing. On my husband’s computer, Firefox, it’s still twentyten and on Safari it’s the words and blue links. So Safari shows the words/links and Firefox shows Citrus or twentyten depending on the computer.

I did look at the 404 template in its file in Editor and it reads:

    <h2 class=”center”>Error 404 – Not Found</h2>

WordPress is supposed to be soooo easy! Is it only easy for people who understand programming? I have been struggling with it for a month now and it’s more screwed up now than ever. Should I just delete it all and start over? That would be my second time to do that.

    Thanks!

So you have no themes? Twentyten is the default theme. If you delete it and something goes wrong (again) you have nothing to fall back on by default if you have to remove a stuck theme.

    1) Clear the cache in the browsers on your computers and go back to your site. Try to log in using //www.stopdietingforever.com/wp-login.php
    ( //www.stopdietingforever.com/wp-admin doesn’t seem to be working )

    2) reinstall the twentyten theme and apply it. See if that gives you the site back with the default theme. From there on, you should be able to apply other themes and they should work, assuming all of your wordpress files are still intact.

A 404 means when you click on a link you get “Page Not Found”. Click on the “Diets don’t work” link and read the message you get. I suspect you have a permalink issue. This article contains information on using permalinks and updating the .htaccess file to make them work. If you are using any type of SEO plugin, read the instructions to determine how it may affect permalinks and .htaccess requirements before activating.

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

Open your FTP client, click on the themes directory, then left click and select refresh. Now check to make sure the theme you wanted to delete was actually deleted.

There might be an .ataccess file, which is a hidden file, you’ll have to set the hidden attribute to true before you can delete the file and the directory it’s in.
