How to Re-locate Sidebar Widget (6 posts)

    Hello Friends,

    I am trying to find the best way to re-locate the sidebar widget for my Recent Posts.
    The preferred place is to locate it in the lower area of the page center. Currently it is sitting up high (right side top of the phone icon) please see: http://i-brand.ca/testsite/

    I have been looking at the functions.php and also at the /* =Widget Areas in my Twenty Ten-Child style.css.
    Any idea’s, help, guidance or assistance would be very greatly appreciated as always.

    I thank you very kindly for your thoughts and for your time.

    twentyten supports footer widgets, those go down at the bottom of the page.

    Just drag it from the primary/secondary sidebar to the footer in your appearance -> widgets screen

    Hello Rev. Voodoo,

    Thank you for mentioning that.
    If I were to make a Child of the footer.php, could I control the location of where that widget would appear on my page?

    Perhaps that is the way to go. Place the Recent Posts Widget into the 'Fourth Footer Widget Area', then attempt to place the widget where I need it using the new Child of the footer.php?

    Anyone have any thoughts on this method, or am I kind of off target.

    Your feedback is extremely very much appreciated!
    Many thanks in advance!

    How are you trying to control the location?

    If you put a blank text widget into footer widgets 1 and 3, and your recent posts widget into #2, it would center it.

    Other than that, you can definitely control the layout of the footers as you wish through a child theme

    You'd need to play around with sidebar-footer.php quite possible, and a fair bit of css depending on exactly what you wish to accomplish

    Hello Rev. Voodoo,

    Thank you for the info.
    I was thinking also of the sidebar.php and the Twenty Ten-Child - style.css.

    Might have to trial and error.
    Thank you again for your thoughts and time. Much appreciated!

    Hi again Rev. Voodoo, - and anyone else looking for an answer to this.

    I adjusted:
    /* Main sidebars */
    #main .widget-area ul {
    margin-left: 0;
    padding: 0 20px 0 0;
    }

    TO

    /* Main sidebars */
    #main .widget-area ul {
    margin-left: 0;
    margin-top: 330px;
    padding: 0 20px 0 0;
    }

    This brought the widget down the page (peeking out from far right side) which is a good step, but now it is sitting behind the page content, (white) background.

    Idea's anyone..?

    Thanks to all, I really do appreciate any assistance.

    in my Twenty Ten-Child - style.css
