How to query a post’s count in The Loop

Need some help, folks.

I want to style posts listed by the loop differently based on their order within the loop by calling the loop count for each post and pulling it into a simple CSS class such as class='post<#loop count>' where ‘<#loop count>’ is the called number of the post within the loop. Get what I mean?

What’s the code I need to insert to get this?
