How to put author name, email and profile in sidebar. (8 posts)

I'm looking for the tag and/or plugin I need to be able to insert name, description and email address for a blog's owner/user on a blog's sidebar. It will be used in a template on a Word Press Mu installation, so I simply can't hand code this information into the sidebar.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

We don't really deal with MU here - since we don't have enough experience with it.
Anyway, if you don't have access to editing the file, I don't see how you could achieve what you want.

My thinking was that if there was any plugin out there, the folks here would know about it, too, as it would certainly be useful when designing templates.

    Not really useful :)
I'd kick anybody if they display my email on a blog for all the spam guys...

Edit. There are as lot of author tags
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags#Author_tags
but they mainly work in the Loop since WP has to know which author to show.

Yes, the "loop" restriction has me banking my head against a wall. We want a consistent design for all the user sites and tghe email will be institutional and plenty of spam protection.

Thanks Jon. I did make an identical request at this forum, and there hasn't been a reply. I just thought I'd try to tap into the wonderful knowledge base that exists among all the wp techies who visit this forum.

Was that attempt at sucking up too blatant?

Have you tried the <address> HTML tag? That's what I use.
