after much hunting around i found a great site that previews for you what the playlist portion of the skin looks like:

they also include a link to download all skins together:

this page only shows the video portion of the skin:
http://www.longtailvideo.com/addons/skins

other notes:
player needs to be at least 350 pixels wide in order to see the artist and the title in the ‘simple’ skin. it’s not showing me the duration with that skin, however. but that zip file has the flash (fla) source files so i’ll try to edit it and post my results here.

It’s not obvious how to edit the skin. It’s a complex flash file but I figured part of it out.

I’m not sure if you could get it to highlight the song that is being played.

ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO THAT?
It does, however, scroll so that the current track is at the top of the list. If there is room for scrolling.
ALSO NEED HELP FINDING WHERE IN THE FLASH FILE I CAN CONTROL THE LOCATION OF TEXT ELEMENTS.
