I have a wordpress website containing several hundred photos.
I have been told that someone has downloaded my entire site.
    1. Is this possible?
    2. If so, is it possible to prevent this happening again?

If it is online it can be downloaded.

If it's visible yes but all the stuff in the background too? If I have hi res photos on the server but only show large thumbnails? The impression I got was that they'd downloaded the whole caboodle, not just the visible.

If there's a link to the high-res photos, then they can be downloaded.

Basically there is no way to prevent people from downloading or copying what ever you put on the internet. if it's text, it cdan be copied, if it's phots they can be downloaded. In reality it depends on what the other people are doing with it that is the problem. if they are only keeping it for their own personal use and not sharing it with anyone else, then it's not to bad. If they are using it for some commerical reason, then they are most likely in breach of whatever local copyright laws that cover you.
