For the URL of my plugin directories (domain.com/wp-content/plugins/pluginname), it lets the user see a list of the files in the directory.

    How do I prevent this?

drop a blank html file named index.htm in the plugin dir or use a .htaccess file.

Add this to the very top of .htaccess

    Options -Indexes

That should stop casual browsing of all directories without an index file.
