How to post from Flickr as a "Contributor" (2 posts)

Hi! I run a photo blog that I'd like to open up to other contributors. I primarily get my content from Flickr using the "Blog This" button, and I use the "Flickr Blog This to Draft" plugin to hold photos in a queue until I'm ready to publish them.

I need to give contributors access to blogging directly from Flickr from an account that has a contributors role. However, this seems to be... impossible? (http://houbi.com/?p=89)

It would be unwise for me to give these bloggers access to an Admin or Editor account on the blog -- that's too much access. Also, these bloggers need to be able to create non-flickr posts from the same account... so all of their posts are under the same username.

There must be some combination of plugins and hacks that can allow me to do this. Help?

    Requirements:
    - A wordpress user account that can only post as "draft" or "pending review."
    - This account can also blog directly from Flickr, but those posts are held as "draft" or "pending review."

It sounds like it should be possible. What can I do?

It's not perfect, but I did find a good-enough solution to this problem:

    1) Install the Role Manager Plugin: http://www.shandyking.com/2007/08/01/wordpress-role-manager-plugin/

    2) Change the Editor role to have all the same privileges as the Contributor role, PLUS "publish posts" (which is necessary for use with Flickr).

    3) Set my contributors up as Editors. They have the ability to publish directly to the blog, which is more access than I want them to have... but at least they can't do anything else.

    Good enough for now.

    Thanks!
