    Sorry guys don't mean to hog the board hahaha,

    Ok I'm fairly new to all this blog stuff, whether WordPress or otherwise. The problem I have is with layout, what I need to know is what is the recommended layout that will plaese the search engines ie;

    1. Is it better to have a home page, start page (call it what you will) & then have all other posts linked from that page...?

    2. Is it better to have the excerpts of the last 10 posts displayed on the first page..?

    The problem I have is that the search engines keep penalizing me for excessive words...??? Now I have seen some other blogs that go on & on & on, scrolling for ever more, so what's the score with this...??? Where am I going wrong...?

    Thanks

    Use a SEO plugin and reduce the number of posts on your home page. Excerpts on the home page will help with duplicate content issues, but readers don't generally like them unless it's to spare them from loading lots of large, slow images and videos.

    Aha I see,

    So it is better to have a static home page with links to all other posts, is that correct...???

    Thanks

    A dynamic front index page with excerpts works great.
