How to organise Blog into columns? (4 posts)

    Dear All.

I would like to ask for some advice about how to go about organising a blog into two seperate columns on my front page so that it displays small "preview boxes" of the actual blog articles.

To illustrate what I am looking to replicate please view:
    http://www.bnp.org.uk/

(Not looking to make any political statements, simply replicate the look of their blog)

So on the front page blog posts are shown as a small preview style box with a "read more" and "comments" link to the actual full post. Also the image is a thumbnail square but on the actual post there is a full sized image... can this be replicated?

Are there any plugins that could help me achieve this or would it have to be coded completely?

I would really apreciate some advice on this matter.

if you rather want to change/edit your existing theme, first step needed is that you post a link to your site.

also, search the web for 'two column post wordpress' or similar...

Thanks for all the help guys.

The current site I am working with (most of the theme work has been done by another guy) is:
    http://184.106.157.58/

He has attempted to replicate the effect but essentially the main problems I can see with it:
    1. Posts are not tidy (some are larger than others and as a result the text and "read more"/"comments" fall in different parts of the boxes rather than all neatly at the bottom.
    2. He is only able to use perfectly square images in the posts because they are compressed for the preview image as seen on the front page...
Is there a way to "crop" or "cut" an image so that it can be posted in normal size but appear cropped and square on the blog preview?

    The current live site is:
    http://lpuk.org/

Here the problem is that the box sizes have not been "fixed" but they all seem to only line up when they can perfectly allign with the top of another box... this causes massive gaps in between boxes and makes the whole thing look rather ood.

Really apreciate the help and advice.
