How to make my own Avatar for WP 3.4.2

Hi, I’m pretty illiterate when it comes to WP stuff other than typing my post and publishing. I’d like to simply add an Avatar (my picture) next to my name so when I post or respond to a reader in the comments my picture (avatar) shows up. I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks!
