• Can anyone offer suggestions as to all the steps needed to make google think the page is coming from a wordpress blog?
I have thought of these.. can anyone add any more or make suggestions.
    1. Make url look like word press. mydomain.com/2010-09-25/my-web-page
    2. Ping google via pingomatic or some other source… is there a way to make wordpress ping if the url is not actually in the data base?
    3. Somehow add the url and page to the Feed.
    4. Add the url to the sitemap.
    5. Then monitor to see if google actually grabs the index page, the feed and the actual page as they normally do… and within seconds.

anyone have any other thoughts…. will be greatly appreciated… including any easy ways to do this…

  • I don’t see why Google would care if the site is running on WordPress. What’s the purpose of doing this?

You are joking right… I can ping a non blog and google will come right away and grab the page and it could be weeks before the page is indexed.. but if I ping a blog it is indexed within seconds… average is 10 seconds to 5 min…. a non blog biog is 5 days to 5 years or maybe never.

Nope, I’ve never bothered testing Google’s crawl rate and whether having a WordPress blog makes any difference.

Maybe submitting a sitemap to Google or using its Webmaster tools to set the crawl rate would be an easier solution.

I think the answer to “How do I make my site look like WordPress” is to use WordPress. Otherwise you’re not using WordPress, and not really apropos to this forum.
