how to maintain profiles and comments through payment changes?

Hello,
I have a private membership blog with s2member to handle the privacy part and Paypal to handle the recurring monthly membership fee and Buddypress to handle the profiles (I don’t use any of the other Buddypress features).

Members have been requesting the ability to give gift subscriptions, which was easy to setup through a Paypal button, but in thinking through the process, I realized that when the gift subscription period is over, payment will have to switch from one person to another. So then the gift recipient will have to setup recurring monthly payments via her own Paypal account, but Paypal says they don’t have a way to do so without that person having to basically start all over again with a new registration.

I am wondering if there is a way to keep the member’s profile (which seems to be a buddypress thing) and their comments (which seems to be a wordpress thing), when the need arises to change payment methods?
