• Hi,

By default wordpress makes all links/permalinks lowercase
and inserts “dash” instead of “space”. I am making a “botanic” blog
and would like to have my permalinks correspond to biological classification For example:

    http://www.blog.com/Iris_sibirica_Blue_Moon/ (Genus species “Cultivar”)
    instead of:
    http://www.blog.com/iris-sibirica-blue-moon/

For a person dealing with plants or just anyone using scientific taxonomy
this is rather obvious style of writing and reading hyperlinks.
To some extent wikipedia.org presents this approach.

Making wordpress use “underscore” instead of “dash” is easy.
Now, is it possible and if so how to make wordpress display
case sensitive links, the way I type them?

    Thanks for help.

  • Because of case sensitivity issues with different types of web servers, it’s best to consistently use lowercase URLs like WordPress does.

My server runs Apache on *nix so I expect no problems here…
