   On my index page I want there to be only the last 10 posts for the entire site. I do not want my index page to be screens upon screens long. So what do I need to change in the loop to limit the number of post that show

   Its one of the options in admin.

   OK BUT - what if you want only 2 posts to display on the home page, but more posts on archive and category pages? I could put the home page posts in a special category 'home', then hide that in the sidebar? I figure there's another way though.

   Easiest way? Search for the "Custom Query String" plugin. It makes stuff like that a breeze.

   No go again for me. I have downloaded and activated 2.7.1 and I still only get 10 posts.
