How to let Contributors include images in their posts

    Hi all,

    I just set up a friend as a Contributor and noticed that the upload media buttons are not there when I log in with her ID. Is the Role Manager plugin the only solution? I sort of hate to use that plugin because it can make other plugins that access the user role info not work properly. I don’t want to make people Authors because that allows them to upload media as well as publish their posts.

    I signed up as a Contributor to someone else’s WP site a while back and I distinctly remember that I was able to include images in my posts.

    What about the members plugin, does it suffer the same problems as the Role Manager plugin, maybe an alternative?

    That looks fairly similar at least to the extent that I would have to modify the user role to make it do what I want. I’m always a little bit leery of these plugins because it seems like once you modify a user role it can be hard to undo the after effects of your changes.

    lol, i wrote in that reply before i saw the response above mine… you said thanks in the response i thought i was responding to…

    No worries mate.. 😉

    Rather then editting a role, why not create a unique new one, based on contributor but with some extras, then only give your friend that role. That way you don’t need to make any changes to the existing role, i’ll leave the name for the new role to your imagination.. 🙂

    Thanks again. I’ll give it some thought. I’m honestly really surprised that Contributors can submit a post but can’t add an image to their post. How boring is that?

    There are a couple of upload plugins that I’d like to check out as well (NextGen Public Uploader, Upload Widget, etc.).
