Support » Fixing WordPress » How to integrate million dollar script in a theme

  • Hey everyone!
Im a non-techie with everything related to website code (html, php, css etc.). Looking to to start my website based on wordpress cms and happened to come across this script on http://www.milliondollarscript.com while doing research – my understanding is that it can help me sell and manage ads on my website. So can you please guide me how i can mate this script with a wordpress theme.
    Regards.

  • You don’t. That script is a stand-alone system and doesn’t need or warrent anything else to run with it. Trying to integrate it with WordPress won’t do anything for it but add overhead and confusion as to what’s supposed to be doing what. this is one of those times when using WordPress is not the best idea.

Just as an offside here… do those million-dollar pixel sales sites still work? I know that the first one or two made some money, but after there were millions of clone sites out there I thought that they pretty much dropped off the face of the earth thanks to all of the SEO penalties that are applied to them now.

Firstly, thanks for letting me know about the script’s usability with WP. One of those instances when compatibility is an issue I guess.

Secondly you mentioned SEO penalties on the use of such scripts. I did some research on this and would like to ask if you referring to something like selling links on your website which can cause Google to demote or reset your pagerank? Ref:

If the answer is yes, then do you recommend a program like AdSense for ads? And if the answer is no, then could you explain what issue and penalty types you were talking about.
    Regards.

There’s a few issues. The first one is what you’ve found where Google really doesn’t like that many paid links. The mian one that I know is an issue is that those sort of systems leave you with basically no content apart from a single page with a whole bunch of outbound links. That gives Google nothing to index, and no reason to promote your site to anyone for anything.

There’s also the advertising that you’d need to do. How would people find your site initially, and what sort of value-for-money could you offer? People will pay for links, but unless they are seeing a return, you’ll find you won’t get anyone signing up at all.

If you want ot make money form advertising, something like Adsense is the wya to go – as long as you team it with a good site that has grat content, and consistently adds to it’s content base to give visitors what they are actually looking for.
