How to hire plugin/widget designers? (5 posts)

What do people do who can use WordPress, and have ideas for widgets and plugins, but have no skill in creating them? I have a widget/plugin idea that I don't have the skill to implement: an app that will allow blog contributors to create comments in the right column next to the paragraphs of the original blog post which is in the left column. I know there are a couple of such apps out there (for example Commentpress, or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/marginalia/), but I find these clunky, and I can't get a response from the authors. I have a very minimal skill level: I can use widgets and plugins, but I can't create them. Suggestions gratefully acknowledged. General suggestions like "hire a designer" or "learn the software" politely ignored, not because they are not pertinent, but because they are vague and, by their clutter, discourage genuinely useful posts. Thank you.

    Or post on http://wordpress.org/extend/ideas/

Alternatively use this as the project to learn PHP/WordPress.

You could also use elance to find someone to do it. But I would greatly suggest trying to do it yourself, through tutorials. It's a really good skill to have as it will allow you to customize your site even further. :)
