how to hide full text? (5 posts)

I'm looking for a way to hide the full text of a post and just show the excerpt. A read more link or something. I've found and installed a plugin to 'show' and 'hide' 'spoilers', but as I'm posting images..it loads all the images even if one hasn't selected to 'show' the content. (Does that make sense? You don't see them, but the page is still loading)

Actually I can't even see the excerpt when I make one.

I don't know much about php, so take that into consideration when telling me what to do. ;)

Are we talking about the main page of your blog? (BTW, a link is always useful if ask for help!)
Open the index.php file of your theme.
Find Template_Tags/the_content and replace it with Template_Tags/the_excerpt

Edit. The other option is, just use the <more> quicktag in your writing area where you want to break the text. This will display a "more..." link.

Good, the real working links start with http:// - so I don't have to highlight, copy, paste etc.
In the solutions above you don't need any kind of plugin, just in case you wonder.

    Edit. You learn fast ;)
