How to have static front page and blog posts on another page? (2 posts)

My issue is that I would like my front page to blog-less, and the blog posts on another page. I tried going to settings>reading and changing the 'static page' to my front page, and the 'posts page' to my blog page. But there were some complications. I use a dynamic headers plugin, so I have different headers with each page. When I made the above changes, my blog page displayed the posts, as I wanted, but it also kept my front page header as well. Another time, my website wouldn't even load at all when I changed these settings. Very volatile. Any advice at how to go about this smoothly? Thanks.

I always set up sites like that with a static home page and the blog elsewhere on a page called 'blog' or 'news'. The trick is to set up a specific template for the home page. That way you have full control of what goes there.
