Can anyone figure out how this site is accomplishing excerpts on the home page that link into a blog – I noticed their blog in a different directory – blog.designpublic.com. How are they pulling code in both places?

I have a question that is vaguely related to this one. I’m finally realizing that not every new theme creator replaces every element (page.php, links.php, for ex) that WordPress default uses. I think. (I’m cool with CSS and html, but the php stuff is new for me)
I’m using this theme and I can’t seem to identify the .php file for the additional static “Page.” Isn’t it usually Page.php? The “Page” I created shows at http://jr.chicanas.com/?page_id=3 and it seems like the default Page structure includes the “post” component, which I’d like to get rid of. But I can’t identify the basic php file underlying this page in the source code, or in my content files….I think I’m missing something basic here….?
