how to have a dynamic text area

Are there any plugins that could help me create a section/area/box that changes text when you click on different links on the same page?

The idea is that I have lots of text, but don’t want the reader to do a lot of scrolling. So instead they just click the topic they want to read and the box changes to that.

If this is achievable by code that isn’t beyond a beginner’s level, I am open to try that too.
