how to get traceroute from WP automatic upgrade (3 posts)

I use WP in several sites under my host Pair Networks -- however every time I use the automatic upgrade for plugins, it takes about 20-30 minutes for that to occur.

I also manage sites hosted for a friend on servers located via theplanet.com, and when we click automatic upgrade for plugins, it happens almost instantly.

I asked my ISP (pair.com), they want to do a traceroute from their server where my files reside to WordPress.org -- but I don't know which server provides the plugin updates for the automatic upgrade feature.

    They have advised:

We could check for any potential connection issues by running a traceroute from your server to the WordPress server, but I'd need to know which server it's trying to connect to. It would also be helpful to have a trace going from there to here, which you could get from WordPress support.

Any advice please on how to supply them the relevant information so that this can be done?

    Thanks!

Is anyone able to advise about doing this?

I tried using automatic upgrade today on a site from 2.8.1 to 2.8.2 ... but after 4 HOURS in progress, the webpage just stopped and the upgrade didn't work. Seems strange a huge ISP cannot handle this -- that's why I'd love some help knowing what do do.

This is supposed to be the cure. Am about to try it myself:
