   Hi. I'm trying out word press for the first time. got it installed using cpanel. Is there a default log in? HOw do I get to the control panel?

   btw. is sermo.com done with wordpress?

   go to your yourdomain.com/wp-admin/

   this should direct you to the login page - you should have gotten the login page when you got your admin password during install.

   When I try to change my password, it says
   "incorrect username". How do I verify my username AND change my password?

   You can log into phpMyAdmin (through your host: database -> admin) and go into the wp_users table (make sure you select "Browse") You should then see the list of usernames. Your password will not be displayed. But you can go back to your login screen and select "Forgot password". You'll just need the correct username and e-mail address for the form.

   You cannot (to my knowledge) change the password inside phpmyadmin.

   I believe Resetting your password through phpMyAdmin explains this procedure.
