• Hi folks,

    So here’s my problem.

Google AdSense recently emailed me to remove all the spam from comments within 78 hours or face my account getting disabled.

Obviously I do use Akismet but it doesn’t block all the spam and some spam comments still get through (I didn’t really monitor daily to remove them. My mistake.).

Now I really don’t want to go through thousands of comments to delete the spam. Is there a way (a plugin/trick) that I can weed out the spam from comments without having to wade through all of the comments? (yes I did try the ‘check for spam’ button on comments page but it didn’t help much)

    Your help is appreciated.

  • I would have a look at Cloudflare which can reduce the spam on your site.

However this won’t help existing SPAM.

It is really hard job. Even if you can manually examine and delete spam comments, it might not help you, much the same if you use a plugin or ‘trick’. It is so because Google’s definition of spam differs considerably from all other definitions. So, you need to take a really tough decision: choosing between AdSense and comments. What do you want to retain?

I am sorry, this is a very controversial subject that can bring in many opinions. Make a Google search, or go to Google’s own forums. You will find many conflicting opinions. So, you need to take a decision for which only your own judgment will be responsible.
