Uh, how did this topic get resolved if there's no solution listed?
I'm guessing I need to go into the WP code and slice out the part where it sticks in the p tags.
No, but you can grab a plugin that will do that for you:

He asked a question and 10 months later he gets a response! Hahaha
Thanks jonimueller! Seems odd that there's no easier way to do it short of a plugin, but hey, if it works, I'll take it!
gummybear, hey late than never! I just hope Tri-Fusion comes back to check. :)
UPDATE: Ok, well, it seems to add a few formatting issues that I haven't worked out yet--using this plugin basically means that you're going to have to start using br and p tags in every post--I think this is true even if you use the WYSIWYG editor. So, be warned.
Well I modified my quicktags.js file to include the opening and closing p tag (because I'm nothing if not lazy!), so all I have to do is click on those shiny butt-ons. But I despise the WYSIWYG editor. I also have a button that creates an opening <div align="center"> and closing </div> tag for my YouTube videos. So you can kind of have your cake and eat it too where this is concerned.
