   By default category pages list the entries under the title "Archive for the Category ....". How one can get rid of it? I need to replace it with the category name.

   most likely edit your theme's category.php template file. You should see those words in the code - change them as you please.

   The theme does not have any “category.php” file.

   or just use the all in one seo plugin.

   Try looking in index.php, then.

   The problem was caused because of unusual theme design. I contacted the designer. It is fixed now. Thanks.
